Eww much?

Valentine's Day has become this extremely cloying holiday. the things i see on sale now make me want to yak.

whatever happened to TASTEFUL and not overdone bouquets of roses?

i mean seriously, who aside from 13-18 year old boys will buy things like these? (and only just cause their girlfriends WILL compare with their friends the amount each of their boyfriends spent on them for Valentine's Day)

WHO PAYS 750 BUCKS FOR A BOUQUET OF ROSES THAT"S GOING TO DIE??

give ME the cash!!! i'll buy a really nice pair of shoes. or bettina liano jeans. i'm not fussy.

and goodness. 310 dollars for an ugly teddy bear and roseS?

no thank you. 310 dollars will enable me a hair cut and dye and quite possibly even highlights.
valentine's day is becoming increasingly commercialised (my, dont i sound like a bitter hag). it's just my bad luck i have to write an article on the shops selling v'day stuff. pah.

I'd smack the boyfriend if he spends $750 on roses. Really, I can think of so many other things $750 can buy.

Scrub that.

I can think of so many things that he could do AND make me happy AND not cost $750. Some not even 1 cent.

Then again, he forgot Valentine's day last year so $750 bunch of roses is better than nothing :roll eyes: :p

P/s: I think $310 can get you decent colour and cut hair job... Was looking at the price list of Rokk Ebony and it's not too far from that :p

x: well if he were THINKING ENOUGH he'd realise that 750 dollars on ROSES is way extravagant and EXTREMELY STUPID

yan: sigh sigh 750 dollars aussie can buy me 3 pairs of bettina liano jeans. 750 dollars here will get me a pair of warehouse jeans and two tops.

CAN SOMEONE FIND ME A GUY THATS GONNA SPEND 750 DOLLARS ON ROSES SO I CAN MUG HIM?

anon: nope. no roses for me.

Well, I wasn't really refering to the $750 rose bouque. Personally, I agree with you. Valentines day has gone overboard. You may not be one but there are women out there who EXPECT expensive gifts. And there are men like me who just can't afford it. Would women be content with just a hand-crafted Valentines card and a pleasant dinner? That's as much as I can afford.

x: lol i have to phrase this very diplomatically because my own valentine's day present may be put in jeopardy if i answer wrongly.

ok. basically if its in the guys means to splurge on valentines day presents (not 750 dollar roses mind you i still stand firm in my objections to a rose bouquet that costs as much as a burberry wallet), it's okay for him to do whatever he wants for the girl.

BUT if he's like you and can't really afford to splurge and if the girls not with you for the money and she knows about your limitations, then she shouldn't be EXPECTING a really extravagant present.

i'm not sure about the hand crafted card though. i'm sure it's all personal and sweet and stuff but hon, sometimes you just gotta stick to the store bought stuff.

LOL. How commercial. *Shrugs* Different people have different tastes. I'm just glad I don't have to spend a dime.
